Understanding and reaching Latin American players is key to unlocking region’s full potential

The potential of Latin American region is yet to be fully displayed, there are still many markets in this region which are waiting for regulations to fall in place in order to reveal potential opportunities for operators from all around the globe.

This panel focused on how to gain the required knowledge to understand and reach out to Latin American players which is of sheer significance for the operators in order to reap the opportunities arising from this region.

BtoBet’s Founder and iGaming visionary entrepreneur Alessandro Fried shared his expert opinion and profound knowledge acquired over many years presence in the region on this subject, accompanied by JD Duarte (CEO of BetCris), Alessandro Volante (Co-Founder of Super Afiliados), Fernanda Sainz (CMO of Caliente Interactive) and Becky Liggero (Lead reporter at CalvinAyre.com) as moderator

Kicking off the conversation, JD Duarte gave his valuable opinion regarding the importance of the upcoming regulatory framework in Brazil, and how it could transform the local market into a global powerhouse, if authorities find the right balance from a taxation perspective

Conversation continued on the subject of regulations in Brazil as Alessandro Fried provided his insights on just how massive the interest for Brazil’s market is right now, not only for the retail operators already present locally, but for international operators as well.

Alessandro continued his statement regarding taxation which is set to be quite high at 3% of the turnover. He also opined regarding the licensing system which is proposed by the authorities, with a concession based system leading to a bidding process which will result in limited number of operators to receive license for doing business in Brazil. Fried stated that such a licensing system favors the larger tier 1 operators, who will have the highest chances of winning this bidding process most likely by partnering  with local companies in order to utilize their knowledge of local players in order to approach and attract them appropriately.

Afterwards, the Co-founder of Super Afiliados Alessandro Valente addressed the current situation regarding affiliates. As it is right now, the situation is very interesting for affiliates taking into account the fact that Brazil is still considered an “untapped” market in comparison with Europe or America so there is plenty of room for affiliates to come and reap the benefits and profits the region has to offer.

Later on, Caliente Interactive’s CMO Fernanda Sainz gave her expertise on how to maximize the marketing budget when it comes to sponsorships. In her opinion sponsorships are a bit tricky, it’s almost like building a brand, it depends heavily on the strategy of each company, it depends on the knowledge you have of the customer, and how to communicate with the market as well. She stated that all in all there is not a blueprint you can follow to get you to a successful sponsorship.

As the conversation shifted back towards Alessandro about emerging marketing channels, with Becky Liggero making reference to BtoBet partnership with Toplay and Rappi.

Fried stated that BtoBet’s mission is to help operators overcome the difficult technical challenges of shifting from retail to online, since Latin America is still mainly dominated by retail. Making reference to Rappi Fried said that what was incepted as an e-commerce platform, now has expanded its services integrating the betting vertical and offering the opportunity to local operators to tap into a portfolio of users counting well over 30 million. This new approach could well pave the way for other e-commerce platforms in more mature markets to follow suite.
